About

Background

Forever cursed by wanting to try my hand at everything, I have been a Painter, Musician, Digital Artist, Radio and TV Producer, Designer, Writer and Film Curator. It was wonderful to settle on a plan after all these years… To be a “Cinemateur”, a word I made up to describe my ambitions, because the idea of being a “Film-maker” wasn’t exciting me much.

A Cinemateur is an artist who works in the moving image, with little interest in obeying rules and fulfilling genres. Dissatisfied with the narrow confines of the “Movies”, and bored with an increasingly listless Experimental film-world, I needed to follow another path.

Like any Video Jockey, I am  a hunter of the moving image. I collect Movies, Documentaries, Animations and other Cinema-ephemera all ready to plunder.  Though I loved organising cinema screenings in the past (and still do, check TIMECAPSULES for more information), I wanted to try to bring all these elements into a more improvised creative practise, something more akin to painting than narrative film-making

What I do…

I am a Video Jockey (VJ), who loves to indulge his own visual tastes at parties, but I also love to collect and remix imagery to fit in with a theme, any theme really. Using digital compositing and mixing I can create eyepopping content for exhibitions, presentations, launches and any live performance. Check out the Gallery pages to see some examples of my work…

I also love to work interactively with other people and am developing some community projects and collaborative works over the coming year. Check the “NEWS page as things develop…
